Gauteng govt celebrates International Women’s Day

The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) will launch the Women’s Economic Summit from Wednesday, 08 March as part of the provincial International Women’s Day celebrations.

The three-day summit will be celebrated under the theme #BeBoldForChange, and will see women in the province deal with a number of issues that include opportunities for women, business support, access to finance and broad focus to ensure that women are brought into the mainstream economyhe three-day summit will be celebrated under the theme #BeBoldForChange, and will see women in the province deal with a number of issues that include opportunities for women, business support, access to finance and broad focus to ensure that women are brought into the mainstream economy
The provincial government’s priority remains to develop and empower women in Gauteng. During the State of the Province Address, Premier David Makhura said that the provincial government will focus on the empowerment of black people, youth, especially women.

“Of the 12 000 companies that conduct business with our provincial administration, over 10 000 them are from historically disadvantaged individuals, women and as well as township enterprises,” said Premier Makhura.
Women in the province will be exposed to a wide range of workshops, ignition talks, mentoring and networking sessions aimed at giving tailored opportunities to gain skills, knowledge and forge relationships that will help their ventures grow.
