Gauteng continues to be a destination of choice for domestic tourism and the Rand Show is one of the drawcards for domestic tourism.
The show which is in partnership with the Gauteng Tourism Authority, aims to promote township economy by granting small medium enterprises an opportunity to participate in the event amongst other things.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura who conducted a walkabout on the first day of the show, applauded its organizers, for providing a platform for government departments to showcase their services.
“A lot of people come to us with many questions and we are pleased that we are able to answer them. People to tend to give us feedback over the work we are doing in the community and this is also a platform to do so,” said Premier Makhura.
He encouraged township entrepreneurs to use the rand show to their advantage in order to contribute to the Province’s vast growing economy.
Despite a handful of stalls focusing on youth empowerment and social welfare, the South African National Defense Force continues to catch the eye of spectators with live demonstrations of the country’s armed forces capability.
Spectators are further urged keep an eye out for Members of the Executive Council (MEC's) as they are expected to visit their Departmental stalls for the duration of the show.
